Advisory Council Spotlight: Betty Ann Simmons

Betty Ann Simmons is a retired educator from Austin Independent School District.  She is a Texas State Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of Texas at El Paso, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Michigan State University.  She has educated children in The Department of Defense Schools (Stuttgart, Germany and Okinawa, Japan), and has taught in various school districts in Texas (El Paso, San Antonio, Houston, and the last 23 years in Austin).

Betty Ann is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and within the organization she has done volunteer work at Sims and Campbell Elementary (AISD—Early Childhood Literacy Project), and Inside Books.

Betty Ann is married to Patrick Simmons, a retired Army officer and retired Math teacher with Round Rock Independent School District.  They have three children and eight grandchildren.
