Austin Optimist Club

The Austin Optimist Club is a civic organization which has been dedicated to serving the youth of Greater Austin since 1935.

Each year they raise money for youth charities at their Christmas Tree Lot and they could use some more friendly faces to help them out! Volunteers do not have to be Optimist Club members, but should enjoy working with the public.

Job responsibilities include assisting customers in locating trees, picking up string from the ground and policing the grounds and street areas and greeting customers. Able bodies volunteers are needed to assist with hauling trees to vehicles and tie them to cars, stocking trees and operating a 16” bar electric chain saw. Volunteers will be placed accordingly based on their ability and willingness to perform manual labor.

Volunteer shifts are four hours long and begin on November 24. The schedule is as follows: Monday through Friday shifts are available from 1-5 PM and from 5-9 PM and Saturday and Sunday shifts are from 9 AM to 1 PM, 1-5 PM and 5-9 PM. The last day volunteers are needed is Wednesday December 6.

Their lot is located on the corner of San Gabriel and North Lamar in Austin. Come help the youth of Austin and spread some holiday cheer with this fun seasonal volunteer opportunity.
