The Blood and Tissue Center

The Blood and Tissue Center of Central TX is a local non-profit that has been providing lifesaving blood to hospitals and clinics throughout Central TX for 65 years. Our volunteers are a vital part of saving lives every day in Central TX. We offer volunteer opportunities 7 days a week. Just a few of our volunteer opportunities are listed here.blood and tissue center

 Blood Drive Assistant

Volunteers help greet donors, answer questions regarding blood donation, serve refreshments, and watch for adverse donor reactions. In addition, volunteers often engage with the public to recruit potential blood donors and provide education and outreach about blood donation. Volunteers provide an inviting, relaxing, and comfortable pre and post-donation experience for our donors.

Transportation Specialist

Transportation Specialist volunteers are the envoys that deliver lifesaving blood donations to our labs for processing.  Volunteer delivery drivers are dispatched to perform scheduled pickups of blood components from our mobile donor buses and donor event locations throughout the ten county region of Central Texas.

Canteen Host

The Canteen Host plays a pivotal role at our North Lamar Center by connecting with donors, engaging them in conversation about the programs of the Blood and Tissue Center, answering questions, serving refreshments, and being alert to the signs or symptoms of adverse donor reactions. If you enjoy socializing with new people, taking care of others and learning something new each day then being a Canteen Host volunteer is for you.
