Volunteer Orientation Webinar Q&A – Part 1 June 29, 2015

Q:           Can I sign up with Coming of Age if I’m already volunteering somewhere and do not want to volunteer anywhere else?

A:           YES! Coming of Age can enhance your volunteer experience by providing you with membership benefits that include supplemental insurance, recognition of volunteer activity and limited mileage reimbursement if you are volunteering in a priority area.

Q:           Why would I want to sign up with Coming of Age?

A:           To take advantage of our membership benefits, training opportunities and resources we have available for older adults.

Q:           Is there any cost associated with joining Coming of Age and what kind of information do you need from me?

A:           Becoming a Coming of Age volunteer is completely free of charge.  We require basic contact information including your name, phone number, and email address;  information regarding what you are interested in (if you are seeking volunteer placement assistance;) your birthdate (to ensure you are over 50 and eligible for all membership benefits;) and if you are seeking mileage reimbursement, your driver’s license and insurance information and completion of a W9

Q:           Do I have to be 50 or older to join Coming of Age?

A:           No. We accept and provide assistance to volunteers of all ages. But, mileage reimbursement is only available for those who are 50 or older.

Q:           What do you require from your volunteers?

A:           All volunteers must report their volunteer activity to us. We prefer you report to us monthly and can be done in various ways. See our next webinar for more reporting information.

Q:           Can you assist me in locating volunteer activity with an agency that isn’t registered with Coming of Age?

A:           Yes we can. Our goal is to find volunteer placement for you that will be best suited for you.

Q:           How often do I hear from you and how do you communicate with me?

A:           We usually contact our volunteers monthly either by email or mail. We do an annual volunteer satisfaction survey via mail. We may contact you by phone periodically if we have questions regarding your volunteer activity.
