Leadership Academy: People 50+ Leading the Way to Civic Engagement
Overview
The Leadership Academy is a 5-session workshop series designed to help people 50+ learn how to use their personal experiences and passions to inspire others to serve. Leadership Academy participants become grassroots organizers serving on the frontline to address specific community needs. Not only are participants inspiring others to serve, they are building leadership skills, and enhancing the capacity of the organizations where they volunteer through self-directed teams. The Academy will simultaneously leverage the talents, skills, and passions of people 50+, while providing support to nonprofit organizations through Make a BIG Difference Teams.

Make a BIG Difference Teams
Make a BIG Difference Teams will be formed by tapping into the skills of individuals enrolled in the Leadership Academy. Coming of Age is creating Make a BIG Difference Teams so nonprofit organizations can more effectively address important community issues. Make a BIG Difference Teams will focus on high-impact areas that can benefit from the energy and passion of a group of committed 50+ volunteers. Some issue areas include, but are not limited to, neighborhood improvement, violence prevention, helping people eligible for government benefits apply to them, or improving school readiness in Travis County.

Provide input and shape the roles they play
Connect and form new, purposeful relationships

Be flexible, utilizing their creativity and passion to address community needs
