Coming of Age Staff Spotlight- Fred Lugo

Fred has over 25 years’ experience in volunteer management and human services planning on senior 150723_0019issues. His professional experience has been with the State of Texas, the Austin Chamber of Commerce, Travis County’s Health and Human Services’ Planning & Evaluation Division, Travis County RSVP, and currently Coming of Age. He is a trainer in the volunteer management sector and has worked with national efforts to develop training modules and online resources for volunteer program development and improvement.

Fred Lugo is the immediate past-president of the National Senior Corps Association, the national association that represents the interests of and works to strengthen Foster Grandparent Programs, RSVP’s and Senior Companion Programs across the country.

He has served as the state president for the Texas Senior Corps Association and has served on various local boards and councils including the Capital Area Foster Grandparent Program, AIDS Services of Austin, and the United Way Volunteer Center.

As a former planner with the City of Austin and Travis County, Fred led community planning initiatives on older adult issues.

Fred currently shares his passion with older adult issues and community engagement while serving on the Capital Area Aging Services Council, the regional Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, and is a County-appointed Commissioner to the City of Austin’s Commission on Seniors.
