Join us for MLK Day of Service 2015

MLK Day of Service-logo-SmComing of Age will be hosting two events for MLK Day of Service 2015:

Capital Area Food Bank

MLK Day is January 19, 2015 and Coming of Age will show our commitment to serving others by joining together with  volunteers from our community to assist the Capital Area Food Bank. Join us from 9 am to noon as we assist in the product recovery room. We will be cleaning, sorting, and getting  donated items ready for distribution to the Food Bank’s partner organizations.015

Those of you who have joined us for MLK Day in the past know what a gratifying experience this is. We encourage you to bring your children, grandchildren, family, and friends to participate. There will be a limited number of spots available for volunteers, so register today by contacting Dawn Sparks, Community Engagement coordinator at 512-854-5873 or email her at Dawn.Sparks@traviscountytx.gov.

MLK Book Drive

Coming of Age and its Senior Corps RSVP program will be sponsoring a book drive to help build a NEW library at the Del Valle Community Center for the annual MLK Day of Service 2015. We will collect new and gently used books for all ages to help build a much needed library for the Del Valle community. Coming of Age will partner with local schools, neighborhoods, the City of Austin, NFBPA, Travis County community centers, and the Travis County Neighborhood Conference Committee (NCC) for this intergenerational   project.
